After that 14-mile day last Sunday I took Monday off and that was the perfect thing. I was strong on Tuesday for the “secret hill” and ran with the big boys. Wednesday felt good again for seven solo on the trail in 51. Thurdsay for 1000s on the AHS track and here’s what I wrote:
15×400 -
83, 80, 81, 82, 80, 79, 80, 79, 79, 80, 78, 79, 80, 76, 74
didn’t feel too difficult.
Friday another solo 7 in 49 i think? Saturday I overslept and managed to fit in four miles.
Sunday. Sigh. Yesterday I met j-rey and he ran 7 on the trail with me, then he bugged off and I did another loop. So the first 7 were 53 and the second 7 was 47. 1:40 total. I felt great for miles 8 and 9 and really started aching around mile 10. I should have cut off at 11 or 12 but I kept thinking, “would Ryan Hall quit now!?” Ha, whatever. Anyway, the 14 wasn’t too bad.
But then I had a baseball game yesterday afternoon and I took a beating. I’m just not in baseball shape and today I’m sore all over. I also had a play at the plate where I tagged up on a fly ball, trying to score from third, and I did a hook slide to try and beat the throw, but the catcher tagged me in the face. I was called out and all I have to show for it is a gruesome, puss-oozing strawberry on my hip the size of a canteloupe.
I feel like taking the whole week off. Certainly Wilke tomorrow seems a menacing prospect. I know what some of you will say, and I know what I’ll probably do.
Man I’m sore.

Endeavoring to be more of a producer than a consumer, ran across Project Euler which looks to be low friction but somewhat useful and interesting. Unfortunately their register/login system is broken: Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource inĀ /home/admin/domains/projecteuler.net/public_html/includes/login_preprocess.php on lineĀ 11 So I’ll keep track on my own blog I guess [...]
Soldiering on with Aptana, fighting as I go, here’s how I was able to set up automatic synchronization between my project and a remote server accessed through a mounted/mapped drive. Set up your project Set up your remote preview server Set up an (S)FTP deployment connection, make sure you check “Automatically sync my changes” Go [...]
At work we are stuck with Subversion 1.4 clients (cough, Dreamweaver, ahem), so any new IDE I try has to use the SVN 1.4 api and format. Every 6 months or so I like to test drive IDEs, but most new editors and IDEs long ago gave up support for SVN 1.4 (except for PHPStorm, [...]
Baseball shape? You mean like that one picture you posted of the guy that weighed about 200 lbs. and half of it was between his belt and his sternum?
You are strong man. Good workouts. Looks like you could really bust some races wide open.
