One last quick post before the race. Laying in the hotel room after a
long day of crazy travel yesterday and a nice day in Boston today. Did
the crazy carb load thing this morning and felt ill but have recovered
as expected. Probably on my feet a little too much today. Trying to
stay calm and think good thoughts and remember all the hard work I’ve
put in. Excited and anxious, eager and full of anticipation. Should be
fun, should be hard, should be a great experience either way.
Looking back over my training, the workouts that stand out are the 24
miler, the 9×1000, the Meriden miles, the long runs trying to hang on
to Mike and Pete. I feel like this taper has gone on forever and I’ve
gained 20 pounds and lost all my fitness, but I try to banish all that
fear, uncertainty and doubt. The 18 week training block has amounted
to the following weekly mileage: 47, 59, 58, 72, 55, 66, 49, 43, 74,
61, 42, 73, 80, 72, 85, 73, 64, 51, 30. I think I cut back too soon,
but that mostly couldn’t be helped. Weekly average is about 62, so not
as much as I (or you) probably thought, but it is what it is and it’s
in the bank.
The physical training is done, the mental race remains. Now is the
time to run with patience the race that is set before me.

Endeavoring to be more of a producer than a consumer, ran across Project Euler which looks to be low friction but somewhat useful and interesting. Unfortunately their register/login system is broken: Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource inĀ /home/admin/domains/projecteuler.net/public_html/includes/login_preprocess.php on lineĀ 11 So I’ll keep track on my own blog I guess [...]
Soldiering on with Aptana, fighting as I go, here’s how I was able to set up automatic synchronization between my project and a remote server accessed through a mounted/mapped drive. Set up your project Set up your remote preview server Set up an (S)FTP deployment connection, make sure you check “Automatically sync my changes” Go [...]
At work we are stuck with Subversion 1.4 clients (cough, Dreamweaver, ahem), so any new IDE I try has to use the SVN 1.4 api and format. Every 6 months or so I like to test drive IDEs, but most new editors and IDEs long ago gave up support for SVN 1.4 (except for PHPStorm, [...]
