Something is wrong with my foot, but I’m going to run Mt. Bonnell tomorrow anyway (maybe just Scenic). Might as well, seeing as how I’m invincible and everything.
I took Monday off because, well, just because I thought I should.
Tuesday was circuit and those medicine balls can pretty tough. Somehow I got stuck with Gilbert as my partner on one of the sets for the second week in a row. Tough. And my back is taking a beating. Still bruised and battered back there.
Wedensday did the PBJ run. Was gonna run slow due to circuit fatigue, but ended up being the fastest we’ve run. It’s a 6-mile jaunt and I closed with 6:19 and 6:08. What’s noteworthy here is that those two miles felt easy. Well, if not easy, certainly not difficult. I thought I was running maybe a 7 minute pace and was surprised to see me in the low sixes.
Alas, the top of my right foot started hurting Wednesday afternoon. Not sure what happened, as I felt fine Tuesday and Wednesday, so I don’t think it was the trail run. I hope it’s not serious. I’ve been icing it (cure-all?) and trying to stay off it.
Though I did the workout Thursday morning. Given the option of 4-mile tempo. fartlek, or 2-mile fast tempo followed by 10x200s I took the last option. I feel kind of wimpy for not doing the tempo, but the workout was sufficient, and it’s what Coach G. told me to do. At the starting line he said, “stay with those guys.” So I tried to stay with this guy, was a couple seconds behind at mile one (5:49), and faded at mile two (6:02). Wasn’t sure about the 200s, so just ran hard for 35 seconds, then jogged to the next 1/4 mile marker. I never really noticed my foot bothering me. Until I stopped running.
Rode my bike today in lieu of a run, trying to rest my foot. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow.
Idiot.
