“In the BagelFest (which had a record field of 900 runners), Chemirmir opened up with a conservative 5:30 mile in the hilly first mile and the only runners within shouting distance was 37-year-old David Vance and 41-year-old Eric Mata of Dripping Springs.
But neither could match the leg speed of Chemirmir who won a 5-K yesterday in Houston in 16:02. In the faster second half of the race, Chemirmir pulled away to win by 33 seconds over Vance in 17:22.”
