I ran a 5k this week, the 22nd Annual Lafayette Oatmeal Festival 5K. It’s a local race that I want to support, the start being about a mile from our house.
21:25 chip time which is 3 seconds faster than my turkey trot time from November. Considering the holidays and vacation I guess I’m ok with that. Splits were 6:45, 7:05, 6:47, again the second mile was uphill, but I’m a little disappointed in the third mile since it was downhill. I was hurting, chasing this girl in my running group. She’s 24 and ran cross country so I’m not upset I didn’t catch her, but she only beat me by 6 seconds which is a minute improvement from a year ago. By chip time, I finished 2nd in the 45-49 age group, but they used gun time as official time, and 2 guys beat me by 3 seconds by starting up front. Oh well, no glory.
