Weekly popgun/sparkler/blackcat Monday morning run with Fletcher, the runner/rocker dude, et. al. I could only fit in 5 miles this morning due to time constraints (those darn kids and their schools!), but it was a healthy five miles (actually probably 5.25). It was a beautiful morning, the moon was slight and the skyline looked gorgeous over the lake (see Andre, I noticed). I ran the first two with the whole group, then Duane, John and I split off from the group and crossed at Congress. After 20.41 of warmup we started picking it up at Mile Marker 4. The rocker dude told me to go ahead after mile 3 as he wasn’t going to go any faster, and John had to make a pit stop, so I ran the last couple of clicks alone, which was enjoyable.
My splits for the last 3 miles (assume my first 2 were the same as Fletcher’s): 7.50, 6:58, 6:20.
My half-mile splits were 4.00, 3.50, 3.30, 3.28, 3.15, 3.05, so I felt positive about the negativity.
Other thoughts: my breathing and heart-rate seem to present no problems, but my legs always seem heavy and tired. I don’t know if I can run that 6.20 pace for the whole relay coming up. Ugh, I don’t like races. I saw a guy I went to middle and high school with. I didn’t ask him if he remembered throwing my Trapper Keeper on the roof of the middle school in 7th grade. Finally, I had a very enjoyable hour-long bike ride as dusk last night. Aren’t all you readers glad you now know this much more about my life?
