Project JoRViP: Josheli Running Video Producer

by dv February 2, 2022 No Comments

I produce videos for the Josheli Running YouTube channel. Producing videos is tedious and time-consuming. It’d be great if I could automate, as much as possible, the production of those videos. This project, the Josheli Running Video Producer, will be an attempt to do just that. The idea is that I’ll build something in fits and starts and stops, piece by piece, and each step of the way will automate some portion of the process. And I thought I’d blog about the development and creation process it as I go. This is the first entry, announcing the project.

Some steps I have in mind, each item automated:

  • Sync daily videos from my phone/GoPro to … somewhere
  • Post each daily video to this blog, sort of like Snapchat or Instagram Stories
  • Find suitable audio for the video
  • Acquire running data for each day from Strava or Garmin
  • Create graphics of the running data (could just be screenshots of Strava/Garmin)
  • Automatically join all pieces (videos, audio, graphics) into one video
  • Post video to this blog and to YouTube
  • Use YouTube to generate transcripts and post to this blog

I’m doubtful I’ll get very far, but putting this out there at least gives me some motivation
